Frequently Asked Questions

What is Nawafith?
Nawafith is the open-source intelligence (OSINT) infrastructure for Syria's reconstruction era. We gather information from more than 850 Syrian and international sources, turning scattered news into structured, searchable data.
How many sources does Nawafith monitor?
We monitor more than 850 sources: RSS feeds, Twitter/X accounts, Facebook pages, Telegram channels, Reddit communities, and meta search engines. Every source is transparently classified by factional alignment, reliability tier, and language.
Is Nawafith free to use?
Yes. Public access to the live monitor, the knowledge network, and the reports is entirely free. Reliable information about Syria should be available to everyone. Our reports are licensed under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0.
Which governorates does Nawafith cover?
All fourteen Syrian governorates: Damascus, Rural Damascus, Aleppo, Homs, Hama, Latakia, Tartus, Idlib, Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa, Al-Hasakah, Daraa, As-Suwayda, and Quneitra.
How does the technology work?
We use AI models to scale human analysis. The models extract entities from articles automatically, track how narratives move across factions, and surface connections between events. This feeds the knowledge network, which links more than 8,500 entities.
Why does an intelligence platform carry a jobs engine?
The jobs engine is an instrument of economic and operational monitoring. It aggregates openings from more than 120 organizations working in Syria, letting researchers and organizations trace where reconstruction, aid, and development money actually flows.
Who is behind Nawafith?
Nawafith is an independent, non-partisan project founded by Karam Alhamad, a graduate of Yale's Jackson School of Global Affairs. The platform answers to no political party and takes no government support or conditional funding.
